Gil Gillis
Everybody knows this guy and his unbounded talent. Like a lot of artists, Gil is mostly self-taught but is very acclimated in many mediums. He is an extremely talented travel photographer, as well as a master musician, videographer, and painter; he does it all. While he does paint with acrylic, oil and watercolor paint, he specializes in “Encaustic paintings,” also known as “hot wax paintings.” Working mostly with large wooden panels, he creates layers and layers of built up wax that produce a deep, smoothing tone to his work. He has several shows to his credit and recently had a successful show in the Gallery at The Mansion on Forsyth Park in Savannah.
